I frequently run into trouble, food wise, in Lisbon. While the city is abundant with vegetarian restaurants, I find most of them are closed between the hours of 3-7 pm. I also find that they are sporadically located throughout the city and may not be close to where you may be staying or exploring. Although there are an overload of restaurants around Lisbon, most have a menu heavily based on meat and fish. So what’s there to eat at 4 pm in the midst of the beautiful city that is Lisbon? Vitaminas.

Vitaminas is a casual chain restaurant, serving freshly made salads or sandwiches. There is the option to buy a salad/sandwhich combo already put together or create your own. As a base, Vitaminas offers either lettuce (or rocket) or pasta (white, whole wheat or gluten free) or a choice of bun. The gluten free pasta does contain corn, in case those who avoid it would like to know.  You then have the choice to pick 5 toppings from a plethora of fresh fruits, vegetables and legumes.
